The ultimate list of last-minute kids' Halloween costumes you can throw together using clothes you already have at home!
October is upon us and you may be wondering what kind of costume you can pull together for the upcoming Halloween events on your calendar. Whether your family is all about trick-or-treating in your neighborhood or reluctantly attend the themed school fundraiser, these summer camp inspired costumes are fun, quirky, comfortable, and can be thrown together in no time with items you (likely) already have in your house.
At Mountain Meadow Ranch, themed dances, Color War events, skit nights, and general silliness are a way of life
1. The Camp Counselor
Tie-dye or camp t-shirt, lanyard nametag, bandana, jean or athletic shorts, clipboard, backpack, hiking sandals or sneakers. Put a retro spin on it and go for a ringer T, tall socks and sneakers, and jean cutoffs.
2. The Camp Director
Similar to a camp counselor but with a little more “I’m in charge” vibe. Think camp or polo t-shirt, clipboard, walkie-talkie/radio, whistle or megaphone.
3. The Wrangler
Jeans, boots, button up or plain t-shirt, cowboy or baseball hat, coiled rope (lasso), and bonus points if you have a hobby horse or horse stuffy!
4. The Backpacker
Hiking shorts, t-shirt, tall socks and sneakers or hiking boots, backpack (tie a sleeping bag or a rolled up blanket to the bottom or top for added effect), compass or map, hat or bandana and sunglasses, a dazed look in your eyes like you’ve just summitted the nearest mountain.
5. The Camp Legend/Mascot
At Mountain Meadow Ranch, we have a legendary pink dolphin. Wear pink head to toe, grab some face paint and cover your face and hands to complete the effect. Alternatively, take inspiration from your camp or school mascot/legendary figure.
6. The Official S'more Judge (North American S'more Association)
At Mountain Meadow Ranch, we take s’more roasting to the next level with the North American S’more Association (N.A.S.A.), complete with vetted judges. Collared shirt, nametag, clipboard, bag of s’more ingredients or a s’more on a plate, the look of someone that takes themselves very seriously.
7. Bonus! The Camper 🙂
When we dress up at Mountain Meadow Ranch, all manner of costume or silly clothes are welcome. From swimsuits over your pajamas to clashing patterns, we’ve seen it all. Embrace your inner camper and wear something silly that makes you want to run and play again.
