COME JOIN US FOR WINTER CAMP 2010!
SAVE THE DATE! THE RETURN OF WINTERFEST! From December 27th to January 2nd Mountain Meadow will be holding a Winter Camp here at the ranch. Last year’s winter session was so successful and filled with so many good times and great memories that many of you asked if we’d be bringing it back, so we have!
Back in the winter of 1994 we held our first Winterfest. It started snowing opening day and didn’t stop the whole week. It was unbelievable. We had over six feet of snow! It was fantastic! We were sledding off the roofs of the dining hall. We are hoping for something like that this winter. .
Winterfest 2010, like previous “Fests” will be a time not only to get together with friends from the summer, but also a celebration of all the joys of winter and celebrate the New Year. The Ranch is such a beautiful place all covered in snow. It is truly a winter wonderland. The days will include as much sledding, tobogganing, ice-skating, ice fishing, snow/ice sculpturing, inner-tubing etc as we can muster, along with snow ball fights, snow football, broom hockey on the frozen lagoon, buzzing around the meadow on an inner-tube pulled behind the jeep, hay rides, feeding the horses and cows, hot chocolate and homemade ice-cream. We will also spend at least one day on the Tahoe area slopes skiing or snowboarding.
Night activities will include tobogganing, sledding, inner-tubing, and ice skating under the floodlights…a snowy “cooler” winter version of the “Lagoonfest” of summer, minus the high jump and rope swing, but with the addition, of course, of a warm bonfire to keep us warm and toasty and always a fire in the Lodge (winter lingo for Dining Hall) fireplace. Indoor activities would include games, a pool tournament, ping-pong, foosball, movie nights, cookie, cake and candy bakes, taffy pulls, and smore competitions. And of course, we could not leave out the Main Event: at Midnight December 31st, a pyrotechnic extravaganza and a ten-foot high bonfire to celebrate the New Year.
The cost is just $850 for the entire week, not including travel to & from camp, and lift tickets & rentals for the ski trip.
