Campfires: Bonding, Reflection and Friendships
Each cabin group prepares and comes to the campfire with a skit
or song...some group performance for the pleasure of the camp family.
Campfires are a favorite time for all of the camp family. It is
a time of laughing together, fun and reflection, for giving recognition,
and singing old camp songs. It is during these times of "coming
together" that individuals truly feel the bond of friendship
and family that takes place at Mountain Meadow. At the end of each
campfire there is quiet time of reflection and sharing when Chip,
Jody and the staff can discuss the progression of the camp family.
Areas to encourage and be proud of, areas where we might need to
improve. At this time everyone in the camp family has the opportunity
to standup and share with the group whatever is on their heart at
this time. Some share their feelings about their experiences at
Mountain Meadow, others choose this time to thank a fellow camper
for some good deed and others share with the group their desire
to improve in some area. It is a free, spontaneous time of sharing.
This family sharing is always a heart-warming, magical time where
beneath a sky filled with stars, time stands still and the camp
family truly comes together as one.
