Give your child the summer camp experience of a lifetime at Mountain Meadow Ranch. Founded in 1956 and family owned and operated since the beginning, Mountain Meadow is a traditional, co-ed sleep away camp for kids ages 7 to 16, just two hours from North Shore Lake Tahoe.

We are nestled on a 900 acre working horse and cattle ranch, yet we are also a full summer camp, offering everything from Western horseback riding to paintball. Our 17-element high ropes course, with a climbing wall in the trees and an 800’ long zip line offer challenges unheard of in many camp settings. Water sports take place at beautiful Lake Almanor; campers who choose this spend the entire day at the lake, tubing & wakeboarding and perfecting their skills at anything they wish.

Our program focus is on providing a more personalized camping experience by limiting enrollment to no more than 110 campers per session. By reducing numbers campers develop friendships more easily, bond with the camp family quickly and more fun is had by all. The uniqueness of our program and the positive impact it has had on so many lives has been told over and over again by our alumni, who carry memories of their adventures with us many years down the road.

We would love to have your children experience the uniqueness that is Mountain Meadow this summer; call or email us at any time for more information, or check out our website at http://www.mountainmeadow.com.

Mountain Meadow Ranch Summer Camp has been in operation since 1956. We are a 2nd Generation family owned and operated facility with a high standard of excellence and reputation for quality in camping for kids ages 7 to 16. Mountain Meadow has been accredited with the American Camp Association and the Western Association of Independent Camps since the very beginning, ensuring further ensuring the quality of our program. Unlike other traditional, sleep away camps that push enrollments to the max (often 300 + for many California camps) with a sole focus on just activities and short sessions, Mountain Meadow purposely limits it’s enrollment to no more than 110 campers per session. This allows our staff to better focus on each individual camper’s abilities and needs more effectively, and provides for a more personalized camping experience for each child.

Additionally, campers have the freedom to choose which activities they would like to try each day. While our cabins are grouped by age and grade, campers of all ages mix together and get to know one another at all of our activities, allowing for a unique family-like atmosphere and greater opportunities for campers to build lasting friendships with one another.

Building character, self-confidence and self-esteem through fun and amazing activities is at the core of the Mountain Meadow philosophy, and when you consider that 110 campers have free reign over a 900 acre ranch for two or three weeks, the potential for positive growth and development is enormous. Every summer provides tons of success stories for us, and we’d love for your children to be a part of this success.

Children feel excitement when they are planning and attending to the preparation of the things they are supposed to bring on camp. Although, some confusion may also be experienced–especially by first-timers. One of the real points of anxiety for boys is the concern of what to bring. After all, they are away from home–some for the first time. They need to have a good mix of practical things and things that are familiar from home so that they feel safe and comfortable.

Whether you are a parent sending your child to summer camp for the first time or a young person who is concerned about your first camp experience, this list will help you. Read it carefully and prepare for a great summer! These 3 points should help you a lot when you arrive at camp.

1) Organization. If you are sure that you are going to stay on a cabin, organizing your things when you get there should be the first thing to have in mind. It would be better if you will have plastic drawers when you packed your clothes so that you will just put them in the cabin you will be staying on. This is really convenient and organized; you will not have your clothes hanging around. Take along with you also a shower pail that you can use for your shower needs.

2) Clothing. If you are thinking about the clothes, consider the following list. You’ll need 6 or 7 normal shirts, plus 2 or 3 old ones for dirty uses. Make sure you bring 4 or 5 pairs of shorts. You will be in and out of water, mud, dirt, and forest conditions, so you need plenty of clean pants too. Bring 2 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of sweat pants. Seven or eight pairs of underwear should be enough, since laundry will be done at least twice a week. You’ll also want to take a couple pairs of shoes and flip flops, and 2 pairs of pajamas.

3) Extras. It is important that you are ready for whatever unexpected occurrence, hence those number of extra things you should be ready for. If you are thinking about the extras, you can bring a book, an alarm clock, some game boards, card decks, pictures from home when you feel homesick, and art supplies. If the camp has a policy of not using electricity, then you should be ready for fun stuff and non-electricity things. Do not bring any digital cam with you, it would be useless, trust me. Instead, you can opt for disposable ones so that you will have lots of souvenir pictures, just in case.

You can also bring a small handy backpack with you that you can use during the daytime activities. You can use it to bring your disposable cameras, bug spray, bottled water, sunscreen, hankies, and those stuff that will come in handy when you need them.

I hope you have a wonderful experience at camp. You will make memories that you will cherish for the rest of your life. With this list, that experience will be even better.
