Water Sports at Summer Camp
Activities >> Aquatics / Waterfront Sports
Our summer camps ever-popular water-sports program utilizes two ski boats and takes place at our base camp at beautiful Eagle Lake, the second-largest natural lake in California, and is supervised by top-qualified water-ski and wakeboard instructors. As members of USA Water-ski, the national governing body for organized waterskiing in the U.S., our campers progress from dry land instruction through the beginning, intermediate, advanced and expert classes of skiing and/or wakeboarding. Knee-boarding is also offered, and a thrilling ride on the tube is a great way for kids to cap off the afternoon.
RAFTING Provided by the U.C. Davis Outdoor Adventure program and lead by their experienced guides, this is a fun-filled, two-day kids trip down the South Fork American River. The first day begins with a 12-mile span beginning at Camp Lotus and ending at Folsom Lake, east of Sacramento, California. The first half of the trip takes campers through a brief introduction on proper paddling technique, basic commands, and a chance for the kids to test their new skills on class II rapids. After a short lunch campers will enter the Gorge and face the class III rapids of Satan's Cesspool, Hospital Bar and many others. The day ends with a 35-minute ride back to Camp Lotus and a hearty dinner for all the kids.
The second day begins with a ride up to the Nugget put-in where campers will begin immediately testing their skills on class III rapids such as Meat grinder, Racehorse Bend, and many others. After concluding the rapids with the well known Troublemaker, campers eat lunch at Marshall Gold Discovery Park and then paddle down to take-out at Camp Lotus. The kids group returns to Mountain Meadow Ranch for dinner that night, with many stories to be told and memories of a great adventure by all participants. Campers must be 13 years or older to participate in the summer camp rafting trip, which is offered during our 19-day sessions. An additional fee applies (please refer to Dates & Prices for current rates).
